Field trips in the Fall

We work very hard hitting the books, but I know that cold blistering weather is coming soon so while it is warm we are taking advantage of some outdoor activities!

This is one of my faves about homeschooling! Gotta love the field trips.  I thought I would share some with all of you in case you are looking for some fall activities.

Tuesday we ended our school day by picking apples to make homemade applesauce, apple crisp, and all the other apple goodies you can think of.  We do this every year and every year the kids look forward to it.  We also pick out our family pumpkin and devour apple cider. This year I bought a cooking pumpkin and will be trying to make my first ever homemade pumpkin pie!

On another day this week we went to Thistlebury Farms, which is a great place filled with slides, jumping pillows, corn mazes, hay rides, and more! After that adventure we headed over to Notre Dame to have a picnic on the lawn and show the kiddos the beautiful campus that was so close to our home.  The kids were more excited about the leaves and bugs they were finding where as for me I just love the architecture of the buildings.  We made sure to get a picture in front of "Touch Down Jesus" just for my hubby since he is a devout Michigan Fan!  We LOVE you Tommy!

We also had a field trip a couple of weeks ago at a friends house going on a scavenger hunt through the wilderness in her back yard.  The kids actually found a Ribbon Snake along with a lot of other goodies and put them in a bag and brought them up for all of us to see.  We ended that day with a big kickball game.

Next week we will be going to the play, "School House Rock."

Today is not a school day, but Little Lady and I spent the beautiful day on a date at the zoo.  We do not get alone time very often so I wanted to make it special.  After the zoo we went to the park and then came back home for a bike ride and watched her fave, Strawberry Shortcake!

Last night Little Lady's dad took her to the new "castle" gas station that just opened by our house, it literally looks like a castle, and when she got home she said, "That is where I am getting married!"  There is never a dull moment around here folks!

Here are a few pics of the week!
