I don't know about you, but at this very moment I know so many people struggling or hurting and I believe Satan is working overtime. It feels like there are more people hurting now then I can ever remember in the past. Satan's goal is to crush us and leave us, telling us lies to make us believe we are alone and worth nothing. He wants to leave us feeling hopeless and abandoned.
Sometimes he has us so blind that the only thing we can see are the lies, but I am here to tell you, THEY ARE LIES! There is an enemy building his army and he is looking for victims. If he can distract us from the work of the Lord he feels like he's won. Folks do NOT fall for this trap. It is a trap that is from the pit of hell.
I like to keep a list of prayer requests so I can remember who to pray for and as I ponder over the list I am devastated at the tragedy happening in marriages, and even more, Christian marriages.
I am the first to admit marriage can be tough, lets be honest, life is TOUGH. We all fall short and we all struggle. This world can be very demanding, and as my husband says, "Satan will throw darts at the target every chance he gets." The enemy isn't looking for people who do not follow Jesus, he already has them, he is looking for Christians that he can pull away from Christ.
Every living person on this planet has a story and a strong hold that needs to be dealt with, but we put on a cover because what is covered no one can see.
Covering pain leads to more lies, and feeling defeated leads to more pain. It is a vicious cycle. This is a detriment to the marriage relationship. Give God the mess and let him use it for his good. He is Holy and he takes our pain and sorrow and literally molds it into something only He can do. I do not understand how it works, but I have seen tragedy turn into beauty. I have watched miracles take place and I believe in the power of God and prayer.
Do not look to people as holy because the only Holy is he who sits on high!
It is so easy with social media, to think friends have it all together, it's easy to portray a "perfect" life, and deep down even though we say, "no one is perfect," in a small place in our hearts we believe they might have a little more perfect than I do.
Whats being portrayed is the best of someone, but not always the "real!"
God uses broken real people to do great things for his glory. Be real, admit brokenness and pain. Let God do a mighty work in you. People want real. People relate to broken. People relate to pain.
We may be crushed, but we're not abandoned. We may feel like the world is caving in and there is no hope, but I am here to tell you there is always Hope. The Bible tells me so!
2nd Corinthians 4 says... "But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed..... therefore do not lose heart."
In the place of crushing, The Lord shows up and does what only a Holy God can do, he molds us like clay. To continue the above verse we are told, "For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
So I say to all these hurting marriages, I love you, Jesus loves you, seek him and war for your spouse. God loves your spouse more than you could possibly love him or her and he wants their soul. Watch what the power of prayer can do. Hang scripture on the wall, pray scripture, ask God to come in and do a mighty work. Rebuke the enemy, and ask God to cast him into hell where he belongs.
Be brave, trust God to move mountains, and focus on the unseen. This life is so short and it isn't supposed to be easy on Earth, we are told that. But we are also told to rejoice always, pray without ceasing, and give thanks in everything, even in the pain.
I love listening to other people's stories, where they came from and how God is changing hearts and making all things new. I want people everywhere to know there is Hope in the midst of despair. Everyone has a story and when there is freedom to be real and share your story, you give a gift. People need people who are willing to be real and share their struggles. Remember you are Never Alone!
When we are hard pressed, crushed, persecuted or lonely, we are becoming more like Jesus, a humble and meek servant.
Psalm 34:18 states, "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.
1st Peter 5:9-10 says, "Resist him, firm in your faith knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you."
You may be crushed, but you are NOT abandoned, struck down but not destroyed. Jesus will NEVER leave you or forsake you. Let the God of peace wrap his arms around you and hold you. Give thanks in the midst of pain.
