God has really been taking me on a journey this past year. As I reflect on the year that has gone by so unbelievably fast, I can see Gods hand in my life. There are prayers that were answered right away and there are several things I am still waiting on God to answer. God is taking me on the trip of long suffering and change, but growing is the goal right? I mean to seek, to learn, to grow, to change, to change, to ch..., oh that is a hard word to swallow.
Who likes Change?
To change and grow, not in size, Hahaha, but in mind and spirit. To be changed from the inside out and to let God reign in our lives and prove himself real over and over again.
So often we put God in our little red wagon and we pull him around and when things are not going right we call on him. We do what we want to do when we want to do it, but keep God right there in our wagon! We need to take God out of the wagon, give him the handle and jump in the wagon ourselves. Let God pull us around and tell us what to do and where to go.
There are so many days I get frustrated because I have not completed my list, or the kids didn't act like I wanted them to, or my husband didn't do what I thought he should have. Then God whispers in my ear, "Jen, you are trying to control things again! I am God Jen, do not have a plan that does not include me. Do not go into a day without asking me what I want for your day. Don't play God Jen!" Ugh, I hear you Lord, but, but, but......okay!
I am reminded almost daily that Gods plans are bigger than my plans. His ways are higher than my ways and his thoughts are higher than my thoughts.
What are my expectations for my loved ones? Do I expect my loved ones to supply my needs or fulfill my desires? If we are all honest we search for humans to meet our needs, but only God can truly meet our needs. He can meet us and love us right where we are, and we do not have to act a certain way before he loves us.
For Christ to truly live through us and change us we have to humble ourselves and ask him to show us any sin we may not know about. That is not an easy task because we have to be willing to admit sin that will cause us to change.
Who likes Change?
How do we do that? Well after Christ has showed us our sin and we go through the time of shock and putting our tail right between those legs of ours we have to confess that sin to God and if need be to the person we hurt. Once confession happens we can ask for forgiveness and let Christ show us how to have a changed heart.
In the past year I have discovered that I am a mess and God has a lot of work to do in me. When I start to think I have gotten this down and I am doing pretty good God taps me on the shoulder and says, "Jen, I need you to change this and this and this......" What I can be so excited about is that I know I am created in the image of Christ and that he has plans for me that will not come to fruition until I am in Heaven. I long for Christ. I desire Christ to work in my life and change me from the inside out.
What about long suffering? What about those prayers God is not changing and I feel like He is not listening? Well I can tell you, the struggle is real. There are things I have given to God thousands of times and resolution has not happened. Will it? I believe it absolutely will, but God is testing my patience! He wants to know I'm with him for the long run and my endurance is built up! Will I give up when the going gets tough and I do not see results when I think I should?
Hebrews 2:10 says, "For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings."
Wow, did that say we are made perfect through suffering? Does that mean the more we suffer the more we will be molded into Christs image? Jesus understands long suffering. He knew when he went to the cross it was his fathers plan and there was no other way.
Resolution happened for Jesus at the cross, but he had to suffer an unimaginable death before it could happen.
What do we do with the prayers that have no resolution? Keep praying!
The Power of Prayer is for real and even when we do not see God working, he is.
We are a pin dot in this universe and Christ cares about every need we have. We are fearfully and wonderfully made.
But never forget we are warring with the one who is prowling around like a lion waiting to devour us. Satan wants us to feel confused, guilty, worthless, and unimportant, and he wants us to think that Jesus doesn't care about us and our long suffering, but do not listen to the lies. Satan is the King of Lies. Rebuke him and cast him out, he is not welcome here.
1st Thessalonians 5:16-18 "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."
We are called to Rejoice in Long suffering, So bring it on, Heaven is near! Rejoice, and let God lead by jumping in the wagon and letting him guide the path of a changed heart in the midst of a patient, enduring trial.
