Wow time gets away from me! I did not realize how long it had been since I sat down to this computer to brainstorm!
It is late Sunday night and we have spent the weekend at family reunions, which I love, but the nights have been so late our kids are turning into monsters that have been let loose and cant find their way back to the cage!
On the way home tonight all 3 of the kids were arguing about who was going to sit in the middle seat and who had to go to the back seat. Tough Guy, who is 11, would give the occasional eye roll and look out the window, while the younger 2 just kept it going. Tommy and I both tried to stop the disagreement, but they kept on!
Have you ever tried to play the quiet game? Tommy said "kids lets see who can go the longest without talking!" Well Little Lady literally lasted a half of a second and she was saying, "MOM...mom...mom...," I told Tommy I am changing my name.
We could not be upset with them because we both knew they were so tired and we had been pushing them to the max by constant late nights.
Tommy decided to turn on the radio and on WFRN, our Christian radio station, there was a story of a lady who was a mess and said she was losing her mind and immediately out of nowhere Little Lady said, "Mom, I didnt know you could lose your mind? Have you ever lost yours? If only she knew!
She was so serious and all we could do was laugh. She had been talking nonstop for an hour and we were trapped in the car and then she says that!
Tommy and I were both ready to lose it, and in an instance we were laughing!
It didnt stop there! When we got home we told the kids to jump in the shower because the they had been swimming for 2 days in lakes and ponds. The boys obeyed immediately, but Little Lady is never in a hurry and is playing toys in her bedroom and wrestling with the family cat. We discipline and guide her to the bathroom and she is insisting that a shower is not needed. By this time all I can think of is crawling into bed and staying there forever, but I put her in the shower, wash her up and get her out. I pass her off to her dad to brush her teeth so I can have a little alone time and take a shower myself, but in she comes blaring music from my IPOD and she said, "Mom why are you in the shower, you are taking a long time." I made the water really hot and I just stood there with the water running down my head and she said, "Are you rinsing off!" Yes Ava, where is your dad? I thought you were brushing your teeth, and she says, "Oh yeah I forgot!
Then when I get out of the shower the door is standing wide open and I am freezing! I get my pjs on and I hear from the boys, "Mom will you rub my back and sing." This is a nightly routine that I love, but I thought since it was so late that it was exempt. Oh no, so I go rub both their backs and sing the shortest song I can think of- The B-I-B-L-E! Then I go to Little Ladys room and I hear, "Mom, do you know.....Mom......Mom........Mom, will you rub my back? I start rubbing and dad comes in and tells her the nightly Mr. Blue and Mrs Pink story.
I walk out and drop.
Folks, I love my monsters more than life itself, but I could not wait to go to bed! I am a morning person by nature, well at least when I get to bed before midnight. Lately I cannot get up because of the time I go to bed, but when I check on those monsters after they go to sleep I kiss them and all the chaos is gone! They are so peaceful and beautiful.
